Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Bardstown Road in Louisville

Louisville, Kentucky (July 08, 2026) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in the Fern Creek area of Louisville early Saturday morning, according to Louisville Metro Police.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 1:30 a.m. on July 5 to the area of Bardstown Road and S. Watterson Trail following reports of a crash involving a pedestrian.

According to investigators, an unoccupied vehicle was stopped in the left lane of Bardstown Road just north of Watterson Trail following a previous collision. Police believe the pedestrian, an adult male who was believed to be the driver of that vehicle, was standing near the car and a concrete median when an unknown vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes struck him.

EMS transported the victim to University Hospital, where he died shortly after arrival.

The driver of the striking vehicle fled the scene. Louisville Metro Police Department’s Traffic Unit is investigating the fatal crash.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
