Louisville E-Bike Hit-and-Run Leaves Cyclist Dead, Suspect Arrested

Louisville, Kentucky (July 28, 2026) – A suspect has been arrested and charged following a fatal e-bike hit-and-run crash that occurred late Sunday night in Louisville.
According to preliminary reports, the collision occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m. in the 2100 block of Outer Loop. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a crash.
Authorities confirmed that a 30-year-old cyclist was riding an e-bike along Outer Loop when they were struck by a vehicle. The driver of the striking vehicle fled the scene without stopping or rendering aid. The cyclist was thrown from the e-bike onto the shoulder of the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services. A second vehicle reportedly struck the e-bike lying in the roadway, but that driver stopped and remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities.
Following an investigation, the Louisville Metro Police Department announced on Wednesday, July 8, that a 28-year-old male suspect had been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to arrest documents, surveillance footage captured the suspect’s vehicle striking the cyclist and remaining stationary for approximately 30 seconds before backing away from the bicycle and driving away. Investigators stated that the suspect admitted during an interview that he was driving without operational vehicle lights, failed to see the cyclist, and left the scene without checking on the victim.
The suspect faces multiple charges, including manslaughter, failure to render aid, tampering with physical evidence, failure to maintain required insurance, operating a vehicle without a license, and operating a vehicle without registration. Bond has been set at $100,000, and a court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, July 16.
The victim’s family and loved ones are in our thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.
